SERMONS 2005 - 2007

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Linton Smith ministered in Australian Baptist Churches from 1962 until his retirement from full time ministry in 2007.

Since the late 1960s a central theme in his preaching has been the resurrection of Jesus Christ and its implications.  It had become very clear to him that the key teaching of the Apostles was so dependent on the resurrection of Jesus, that if Jesus had not risen, much of their teaching could be dismissed as nonsense.

The Apostle Paul put it like this in, “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith” [1 Corinthians 15:14].

One teaching that rests squarely on the resurrection of Jesus is the teaching that we who believe in Jesus will also be raised from the dead.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence” [2 Corinthians 4:14].

This website is dedicated to the Risen Jesus and that hope!

The name, immortality-plus, was chosen because the expectation of the Apostles was far more than the immortality of the soul.  They looked for resurrection bodies similar to the glorious resurrection body of Jesus and to a radically renewed creation – a new heaven and new earth.

It was also chosen because Jesus not only gives the expectation of resurrection to those who believe in him, but greatly enriches their lives with spiritual blessings here and now.
